It is a chronic condition caused by the body, specifically on the pancreas, failing to regulate blood glucose (sugar) levels correctly due to the lack of or the resistance of the hormone insulin. In Spain, it affects more than 5 million adults, around 14% of the population.<\/p>\n
There are different types of this disease. The most prevalent, accounting for 90% of the cases, and which can be prevented, is type 2 diabetes.
