Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) or Paddleboarding originated in Hawaii, when surf instructors used large boards and canoe paddles to control and direct the groups of tourists they taught in the 1960’s.<\/p>\n

Later, some famous surfers started to use it as a form of physical training when there were no waves.<\/p>\n
In Spain it began to be introduced in 2008 and is quickly becoming more popular, especially on the Mediterranean coast, as it has calm waves and is therefore perfect for beginners.<\/p>\n
It is now very popular and is practised all year round. It is perfect for any age (from children to adults aged 70-80) and is perfect for having fun with family and friends while taking care of your physical and mental health.<\/p>\n
There are two types<\/strong>: one in which the waves are surfed with the help of the paddle and using smaller boards; and riding on the board, which is the most widespread worldwide due to its simplicity and accessibility.<\/p>\n Paddleboarding has numerous unique advantages<\/strong> that set it apart from other sports:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n SUP uses all the muscles in your body, starting with your feet and legs that keep you upright and steady on the board, through to your arms and hands that help you paddle. Thus, when you paddle, you engage your abdominals and the other core muscles, where all movements start. Therefore, if you do not have a strong core, you will not paddle well and you will fall into the water.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n\n
