If it has not healed after a week, or if it shows any signs of infection, seek medical attention.<\/p>\n And how do I know if it\u2019s infected? <\/strong>The skin around the wound will feel hot, be swollen and red, and may ooze fluid or have an unpleasant smell. You may also develop a fever or experience pain. If this is the case, it is important to seek medical attention.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Treatments by type of wound<\/strong><\/p>\n Clean the wound with saline solution and apply a sterile gauze pad, applying gentle pressure. Cover with a sterile dressing.
