{"id":9037,"date":"2020-01-29T13:12:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-29T12:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asssa.es\/en\/?p=9037"},"modified":"2020-04-08T13:49:09","modified_gmt":"2020-04-08T11:49:09","slug":"technological-advances-in-dentistry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asssa.es\/en\/technological-advances-in-dentistry\/","title":{"rendered":"Technological advances in Dentistry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The latest <strong>technological advances <\/strong>enable dentists to provide better <strong>diagnoses and treatments<\/strong>, improve their patients quality of life and promote the early detection of disease.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->In the field of Dentistry, the latest technological advances have been in the area of 3D technology, the digital printing technique and CAD-CAM technology.<\/p>\n<p>From X-rays that gave two-dimensional images, the profession has moved on to <strong>Cone Beam Computed Tomography <\/strong>technology, enabling a real 3D reconstruction of the patient to be made and helping enormously with the diagnostic process.<\/p>\n<p>For making prosthetic teeth as well as implants, the use of Digital Printing and CAD-CAM techniques is expected to be extremely helpful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Digital Printing Technique: <\/strong>images are taken with a camera and then digitally printed, enabling us to record all kinds of information about the patient\u2019s mouth and send the images to the laboratory for making the dental prosthesis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CAD-CAM <\/strong>increases accuracy using computer assisted design systems. This involves three processes, starting with a scan of the tooth, either using a model with a scanner or with digital printing. The design for the cosmetic prosthesis is then produced using three-dimensional software.
