At ASSSA, we commemorate World Diabetes Day on 14 November, a date declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) that seeks to raise awareness about this disease and highlight the importance of early detection for a better quality of life.
It is a chronic condition caused by the body, specifically on the pancreas, failing to regulate blood glucose (sugar) levels correctly due to the lack of or the resistance of the hormone insulin. In Spain, it affects more than 5 million adults, around 14% of the population.
There are different types of this disease. The most prevalent, accounting for 90% of the cases, and which can be prevented, is type 2 diabetes. It is therefore essential to eat a healthy diet, maintain a healthy weight and engage in regular physical activity. In short, commit to good lifestyle habits to protect your health.
