Full dentures attached with implants

Full dentures evolution has turned out into dentures without palate and with good retention thanks to its attachment to dental implants. Dentistry has improved a lot in the last few years. Traditional full dentures, nowadays, can be attached to dental implants and achieve a good retention, as well as get rid of the resin palate, so that they become more stable, smaller and more comfortable. In the past, people who had lost all their teeth for any reason used to wear full dentures that were retained like a sucker to the palate or to the lower jaw. In the case of upper dentures, there is enough space to support and retain the full denture, but the cost of that is to have a palate made of resin that is uncomfortable when speaking.

On the contrary, in the case of lower dentures, they do not have much space to do a sucker effect, consequently, they often cause problems because they are loose. In patients that lost their teeth a long time ago, this problem becomes more aware due to the fact that their bone gets reabsorbed and flatter, this fact would not have happened if the missing teeth would have been replaced by dental implants. The reason why the bone gets flat is that once the tooth comes out of the bone where it was placed, the bone has no function anymore and gets reabsorbed as a consequence. Likewise, full dentures can cause problems when speaking and eating due to the resin palate that they have and because they can be loose especially in the lower arch when there have not been teeth for a long period of time, and the bone gets reabsorbed and flat, losing retention of the denture and causing an impact on the self-esteem and problems with the digestion of food.

Dental consultation Nowadays, dentistry has improved and placing at least two dental implants in the lower jaw and four in the upper arch can be enough, depending on the case, to retain a full denture. The way dentures get attached to implants is similar to the mechanism of cloth clasps. Likewise, the denture would have an eased cavity with the shape of a ball or a cylinder, and the dental implant has attached a metallic piece with the shape of a ball or cylindric that matches by pressure the cavity that was based on the denture. Even very sort implants in cases where there is not much bone left would work well. This kind of dentures are not fixed, they need to be removed to clean them, but they are very stable thanks to its good retention. In cases where there are no teeth but there is enough bone left, there is a chance to put more number of implants, usually, in between six or eight and in this case, it can be done fix teeth made of porcelain.

Your dentist needs to assess how many implants and what options you have. Nevertheless, people with loose full dentures that wish to gain more retention for them, or remove the resin palate so that it becomes more comfortable when eating and speaking, they can ask their dentist for implants to attach the dentures, it is a procedure that is not as expensive as fixed teeth and can be done in most cases, improving considerably the quality of patients live.
